Frequently Asked Questions
Will a scan with you replace my NHS scan?
No — private scans can be important, but we always recommend keeping up with your scheduled NHS scans too.
How early should I arrive?
Aim to get there around 5 minutes ahead of your appointment time.
What happens once I'm there?
Take a seat in reception and our team will come find you — either a receptionist or your sonographer will greet you and take you through to the clinic room.
How long does an appointment take?
That depends on which scan you're booking — check the details on each scan's page for exact timings.
Should my bladder be full?
Eat and drink normally before you come in. Good hydration helps us get the clearest images, so have a couple of glasses of water (around 0.5 litres) about an hour beforehand, and try not to use the bathroom right before your scan.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely — we love having your family or friends there to share the moment.
Is there anything I need to bring?
Bring along any notes from your midwife or GP if you have them. If it's an early pregnancy scan and you haven't seen a midwife yet, that's completely fine — you can still come in.
What's best to wear?
We'll need access to your tummy, so a two-piece outfit works best — think trousers or a skirt paired with a separate top.
What if the baby's not in a good position?
If your baby's position makes it hard to get a clear view, we'll offer you a free rescan — your sonographer will talk this through with you on the day.
Is ultrasound scanning safe?
Yes — ultrasound scanning in pregnancy is considered safe for both mother and baby. We follow the guidance set by the British Medical Ultrasound Society, and every sonographer on our team is fully trained, qualified, and experienced in obstetric scanning.
What if something's found during the scan?
If we spot anything that needs a closer look, your sonographer will explain what it means and help you arrange the right follow-up care. You'll also get a written report of the findings to take with you.
